Naayika Arts is a Bharatha Natyam and Carnatic music school based in Orange County, California, founded by Artistic Director Visalini Sundaram, a full-time artiste with nearly 30 years of training and performance experience in these classical art forms.
In Indian classical dance, a Naayika is the “heroine” or “main character” of a story.
With a deep-rooted understanding of both dance and music, Naayika Arts offers expertly designed classes and workshops that blend tradition with a modern approach, ensuring students receive a comprehensive and authentic learning experience.
We teach and practice with patience, positivity, and promote healthy relationships with our dancing and growing bodies. We encourage each student to develop their own personal identity and narrative through art.
Naayika Blue is born of queens and sacred icons, carrying with it sovereignty, loyalty, and transcendence. It mirrors the Naayika herself -
the protagonist, a figure of dignity, grace, and artistic leadership.
Role Model grounds the palette in warmth and guidance, the steady strength of a mentor whose presence shapes the path of others.
Goddess glows with divinity and compassion- the sacred feminine, radiant and nurturing, reminding us of the eternal Devi within.
Main Character is bold and commanding, the hue of the heroine who claims her place at the center of the story, unafraid to shine.
Celestial carries the ethereal shimmer of the skies, a color of dreams, vision, and infinite imagination.
Earth anchors the palette with depth and grounding, the mother’s embrace, the soil from which tradition and creativity take root.
Infinite is the mystery of night and cosmos, the eternal void that holds all possibility- a reminder of timelessness and the boundless nature of art.
Together, these hues form the spectrum of HER: royalty, mentor, divinity, heroine, ethereal queen, mother nature, and an eternal presence.
A palette that is not just seen, but deeply felt.
The Naayika Arts logo is more than a mark- it is a meeting place of ideas, like a living Venn diagram where tradition and innovation overlap to create something new. The flowing curves recall water droplets merging into a stream, a symbol of how inspiration, collaboration, and artistry ripple outward from a single spark.
The motif also carries the subtle shape of eyes, evoking vision, perception, and the expressive gaze that lies at the heart of Indian classical dance. Just as the eyes speak when words fall silent, the logo reminds us that a Naayika’s art is both seen and felt.
The star above the “i” shines as a guiding light; a reminder that every Naayika is a protagonist in her own story, luminous and unafraid to take center stage.
Typography is more than lettering- it is the visual voice of a Naayika. Our chosen typefaces, TAN Mon Cheri and Neue Machina, embody the same balance of tradition and innovation that defines our art.
TAN Mon Cheri, with its elegant curves and refined presence, reflects the grace and ornamentation of classical dance and music. It carries the stature of a title, the poise of a performance, and the timeless beauty of the Naayika herself.
Neue Machina, clean and contemporary, mirrors the clarity of thought and modern expression that allow our stories to resonate today. It flows with precision, strength, and rhythm- grounding our voice while letting artistry shine.
Together, these typefaces echo Naayika’s vision: to honor lineage while embracing new expression, to carry forward tradition with bold relevance. They are not just fonts, but scripts of our identity, shaping how our community sees, reads, and feels the Naayika spirit.
