The Naayika Experience

At Naayika Arts, we truly value building a community where we foster growth and support each individual’s unique journey. We invite open and honest discussions while staying rooted in tradition and culture.

“My daughter has been learning Bharatha Natyam with Vini for quite a while now, and it has been a really positive experience. What stands out most is the open and honest relationship they’ve built.  Vini is always approachable, and my daughter feels comfortable sharing her thoughts, asking questions, and even suggesting ideas. It’s more of a two - way exchange than just one - way teaching, which has helped my daughter grow both in skill and confidence.

The classes are relaxed but focused, and Vini has a way of making each lesson feel personal and meaningful. Vini goes the extra mile to explain the abhinaya lessons in a way that's relatable to my daughter, which not only deepens her understanding of the material but also creates space for her to express her own personality through dance. Over time, my daughter’s love for dance has only deepened, and we’ve seen her really develop a strong connection with the art form.

It’s been a great journey, and I’d definitely recommend this dance school and teacher to anyone looking for a supportive, engaging, and flexible learning environment.”

“Visalini Sundaram embodies the true spirit of Bharatha Natyam, a beautiful confluence of music, rhythm, and expressive dance. It's rare to find a single artiste who has mastered all these elements, yet Vini excels as an accomplished, award-winning singer, an exceptional nattuvanar (conductor), and a captivating dancer with profound expertise in abhinaya (expressions).

While many artistes of her caliber prioritize performing, Vini is deeply committed to teaching. She goes beyond the typical instructor role, dedicating significant time to individually mentor each student. Her personal connection and guidance help to grow her students into mature, confident dancers.”

“Learning Bharatha Natyam from Vini Akka has been such a special experience. She is a truly positive, caring, and supportive teacher, always smiling and encouraging her students to give their best. Her remarkable way of teaching allows each student to personally connect with the dance, making every class meaningful and inspiring. Along with her graceful dance, Vini Akka is also an amazing singer, and her abhinaya brings so much depth and life to her art. I am so grateful to learn from such a dedicated and talented teacher.”

“It's been over a decade that my granddaughter Mitra has been under the  tutelage of Visalini Sundaram and I have enjoyed each and every dance lesson she attended. I can say that because over the years I observed and enjoyed each lesson myself. I appreciate her dedication and passion in sharing Bharatha Natyam, which is humanity’s cultural heritage, with us.

She is a talented artiste in Bharatha Natyam and Carnatic music, and has inspired Mitra with her passion for learning the art of Bharatha Natyam and appreciating  Carnatic Music. Thank you, Vini, for your many years of service as an educator and I look forward to our future in promoting a better understanding and appreciation of Bharatha Natyam & Carnatic music.”

“Naayika Arts is a happy space!  It’s a space that encourages everyone with warmth and love to give their very best. It’s a space which reminds each student to only compare and compete with their own potential. The students connect with their teacher beyond the dance class, weaving art into their lives

beautifully!“

“When I started Bharatha Natyam  with Vini Akka four years ago, it was mostly to make my mom happy. But since then, I've really fallen in love with it myself!

Vini Akka's teaching is awesome. She breaks down difficult dance items into smaller, easier-to-handle chunks. Plus, she's totally helped me ease into doing Abhinaya. She makes sure we really get the meaning of every word and the whole story behind each song. We take detailed notes, which helps us connect with and understand the stories way better, making it easier to enact the characters.”
